All About Efficiency

Excel: It's All About Efficiency

Over the course of my career, I have discovered the amazing tool that is Microsoft Excel.  It alone has saved me countless hours in my various roles from Senior Financial Analyst to Accounting Manager.  This book is sort of my tribute to this truly remarkable program.

It has been my experience that the opportunity for efficiency and automation provided by Excel is mostly untapped by many organizations.  Thus, I have reviewed all of my training materials used to train thousands of accounting and finance professionals over the past decade, and have compiled the best features in this book.

I am very excited for this book, as it is being offered free of charge to our Excel Fans subscribers.  (If you are not yet an Excel Fans subscriber, you can subscribe now and your access to this material will be available immediately.)

This book is not a paper based book, nor is it a downloadable PDF file.  It is a web-only book, that is accessed and used through your web browser.  Why?  Because I've incorporated dynamic features into this training course that just aren't available in a paper based product.  Namely, video podcasts that explain each feature, its relevance and uses, and demonstrate how to implement the feature within Excel.  If you are not a big fan of videos, no worries, the text fully demonstrates each feature; the videos are made available as an additional resource if needed.  The videos provide a level of interactivity that is not available by reading a traditional book.  In addition, I've provided exercise Excel files to download and practice with, providing you with the interactive hands-on component that is needed to actually learn and retain each topic.

This course is not a passive learning tool, it is an interactive hands-on tools that will help you discover the best features of Excel and help you become more efficient.  Since this training book is delivered with a subscription, and not in a traditional print format, I am able to add things, topics, lessons, references, examples, and so on over time as requests for certain topics are received.  So, this is sort of a living Excel reference that adapts, evolves, and improves over time.  Booya!

In addition, this book conveniently fits into the schedule of working professionals.  The lessons provided in this book can be learned at your own pace right at your desk as time permits.  If you have some downtime, rather than waste it, log in and work through an Excel lesson.  You'll discover that learning Excel over time provides the greatest retention.

It has been my experience that the proper use of Excel can have a dramatic impact on job efficiency, and I hope that Excel will be the key that unlocks efficiencies in your work as well.  Excel is specially suited to automating recurring processes, and it opens up new ways of accomplishing routine and mechanical tasks.

Well, as a CPA in both public accounting and industry, Excel has been my secret weapon for years and it has allowed me to accomplish my job tasks in a fraction of the time it took my peers.  I hope Excel becomes your secret weapon as well.
