Automating Shortcuts

Thank you very much for your contribution to the Journal of Accountancy. I really appreciated your article in on automating shortcuts in Excel. I was hoping you knew of a way that a similar "macro" could be used for Microsoft Word documents as well. I am having some trouble finding ways to automate shortcuts in Word. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Once again, thank you very much for your time.

Ian,

Actually, Excel and Word both support Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and macros.  Creating a macro in Word is similar to creating one in Excel, and can be done with the macro recorder or by writing it in the visual basic editor.  In addition, the customizations to menus and toolbars you do in Excel can also be done in Word.
