Financial Reports in a Snap

Hi Mr. Lenning,

I have found your article, "Financial Reports in a Snap," very useful! It was written very clearly and is a great "how to" manual. This will be a great tool to use in many instances!

I have one question and am wondering if you've run into this problem. When I create the hyperlinks, save the index, close, and then reopen, the hyperlinks disappear. Do you have any pointers of how I can keep the hyperlinks in tact? I've tried the troubleshooting in Excel Help and have not found any answers. (I am using Excel 97.)

Thanks for your kind words, and I am glad that you found the article helpful.

Regarding the hyperlinks "disappearing", I have not experienced it myself
but I received one email from someone about this behaivor. So, let's troubleshoot it:

1) When you say they disappear, does the text remain?
2) Does this happen on all of your hyperlinks, or just some?
3) Are you linking to files on the network?
4) Can you successfully link to files on your local drive?

Don't worry, we'll get this working for you.

Thanks so much for your reply. I figured out what was wrong, and want to pass along this pointer in case anyone else asks you. When I was saving the Excel file, it was saving as version 5.0/95; however, I should have been saving it as "97 & 5.0/95". When saving under that version, the links stay in the file.
