Google has recently announced its plan to offer an operating system. What!? Yes, that is correct...Google Chrome OS is an operating system that would be used on systems instead of Windows.
In its official blog post a few months ago, Google announced their intention to roll out an open source operating system called Google Chrome OS. While details are limited, speculation and excitement are growing. The new OS is initially intended for netbooks that use web-based applications like Gmail, Google Docs, and other websites. The OS could then expand to offer a solid foundation for thin client desktop computers, which would not have desktop applications loaded but rather connect to a Microsoft Terminal Server to gain access to Windows desktop applications.
It will be very interesting to see what impact this operating system may have....and I don't know about you but I'm excited to see what the engineers at Google have in store for us.
