There is a strong chance that your kids have profiles on some of the various social networking sites. Also true: many people that you know probably have profiles on social networking sites. So, here's what you do. Head over to facebook.com , or any of the other popular social networking sites, and set up a profile. Then, start your search. You'll be blown away by the number of people that you know, or knew at one time in your life, that are in these sites. Currently facebook.com has 90 million users (that have visited the site within the past 30 days). If you are looking for a long lost friend, chances are high they will be there. Looking for a college buddy? Looking for a high school friend? Looking for a past co-worker? They will all be in there somewhere. Other sites to check are linkedin.com and myspace.com, but there are others.

What is pretty cool about facebook in particular however, are all of the plug-in applications. For example, there is a scrabble game in there. So, once you've connected with a friend, you can start a scrabble game that occurs over several days if necessary, each of you taking turns at your leisure. There are hundreds of applications ranging from games, to education, to business to chat. Some of the more impressive analytical powers of facebook have to do with the relationships it stores and analyzes. When you first create your profile you are alone. But, then you do a search and find someone you know. You then invite them to be a "friend". If they approve, you guys are connected and facebook notes this relationship. You keep adding more friends. Facebook analyzes all of your relationships, and your friends' relationships. and will suggest people you may know. You'll also notice that people that you know are friends with other people you know, but you didn't know that they knew each other. It is actually quick remarkable. It is startling how well this site has been programmed. It contains a built-in chat program, inbox, photo gallery, and so much more. If you haven't checked it out, I'd recommend it as a way to rekindle relationships.
So, in conclusion, if you'd like to try to connect to your kids or to other people, try facebook.
